IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Eye Treatment

What Is IPL Eye Treatment?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Eye Treatment is a non-invasive procedure used to treat Dry Eye Disease, especially when caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).
It uses gentle pulses of light around the eyelids to improve oil gland function and reduce inflammation.

Who It’s For

Ideal candidates are individuals experiencing persistent dryness, irritation, or discomfort in their eyes, seeking a long-term solution instead of relying on lubricating drops.

Stable Vision for 12+ Months

Stable Vision for 12+ Months

While vision stability is not a requirement for dry eye therapy, candidates should have consistent symptoms for several months to ensure the condition is chronic and benefits from advanced treatment.

Age 18 & Above

Age 18 & Above

Dry eye can affect adults of all ages, but treatments are especially helpful for individuals over 18 who experience dryness from contact lenses, digital screen use, or aging.

How the Procedure Works

Your treatment begins with a detailed eye evaluation to diagnose the underlying cause of your dry eye—whether it’s tear deficiency, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), or environmental factors.

Pre-Treatment Preparation

(5–10 minutes)

Pre-Treatment Preparation

A cooling gel is applied around the eyes and protective shields are placed to keep your eyes safe. This ensures comfort and protects the surrounding skin before the light pulses begin.

IPL Light Pulses

(10-15 minutes)

IPL Light Pulses

Controlled bursts of Intense Pulsed Light are delivered across the eyelid area. These light pulses reduce inflammation, open clogged meibomian glands, and improve tear film quality.

Post-Treatment Expression

(5-10 minutes)

Post-Treatment Expression

The doctor gently expresses the meibomian glands to release trapped oils. This enhances the effectiveness of the IPL treatment and helps restore healthy tear flow.

I am very impressed with West Texas Eye Associates. My first appointment was with Dr. Bradley to determine that I was a candidate for cataract surgery and lenses. I was scheduled for surgery on both eyes with Dr. Shehz. One eye then 2 weeks the other eye. Both surgeries went as planned, were painless, quick and no recovery time. I had no issues seeing and had immediate results. Over the next week it got even better. The front desk staff was very efficient and friendly , the eye techs were all friendly and efficient, and the Doctors are well trained, explained the procedure in detail and provided excellent care. I could not be more pleased with the entire process and my new vision. I highly recommend West Texas Eye Associates to anyone with eye issues.
